2003 Safepower Awards

HPM Award for a medium sized project (contract of less than $500, 000.00)

Winner: Clarkson Electrical Ltd

Winner Exxon

Project: Exxon Mobil Oteha Valley Road, Auckland

Terry Clarkson of Clarkson Electrical has worked for many years on projects with Mobil and was commissioned to develop, build, consult and install the prototype 'On the Run" service stations.  This is the first of its type to be built under the Exxon Mobil Banner and is to be the worldwide standard.

Energy conscious Exxon Mobil required energy efficient, lux levels and safety to be paramount in the lighting design process.  Terry used T5 fluorescent technology to efficiently deliver an average 700-lux inside, and lit the fluorescent canopy with 320watt pulse-start metal halides, which he flew in from the U.S.A.  A three-stage automated control allows for energy saving on signage and outside lighting.

The installation includes many innovative features and fittings most of which are made in New Zealand.

2001 Safepower Awards

Rexel lighting Award

Winner: Clarkson Electrical Ltd

Winner Christian

Project: Christian Life Centre, Auckland

The Christian Life Centre is a place of celebration and the lighting systems installed by Terry Clarkson and his team from Clarkson Electrical is a direct reflection of this.

The lighting controls are well co-ordinated for this renovated old building and can be either subdued or have all the razzamatazz necessary to whatever mood is required.

The lighting is well engineered because of the integration of the recently installed main lighting with the dimming system - 'very difficult technically to get right.'

Coreys Electrical Award for a medium sized project (contract of less than $500, 000.00)

Winner: Clarkson Electrical Ltd

Finalist Christian

Project: Christian Life Centre, Auckland

This project began as an old industrial building. It was stripped out and a gospel hall was built inside to accommodate 1000 people.
Terry Clarkson and his electrical team were involved from the beginning with this design-and-build contract.

The complex lighting control system is simple to use and creates a variety of effects within the hall. The judges commented the building now houses a high tech religious centre with effective lighting and sound creating a 'theatrical feel' to the large hall.
